On 2nd April it is the annual Boat race. This famous rowing race takes places in the River Thames in South West London. It puts Oxford university against Cambridge university over 6 thousands metres from Putney to Mortlake. The boat race also has a goal in helping the Cancer research. It is the women’s race first followed by the men’s.
 
Since the first race in 1829, the Boat Races are one of the biggest free sporting events in London and one of the oldest sporting event in the world. 
 
During this day, Londoners meet at the Thames to watch the races and to support the squads. It is time to enjoy a good moment with your friends and your family and to enjoy a "famous day" in London.
